AURORA Announces New Album ‘What Happened To The Heart’ And UK/European Tour

AURORA, the Norwegian alternative pop singer, has announced the release of her fourth studio album, ‘What Happened To The Heart?’, and a series of UK and European tour dates. The album will be released on June 7 via Decca Records, Glassnote, and Petroleum. It will be her first full-length LP since her 2020 release, ‘The Gods We Can Touch.’

The album is expected to be a personal exploration of AURORA’s journey from self-destruction to self-healing. It will delve into complex themes such as the loss of spiritual connection in modern society, the healing power of vulnerability, and the need to ignite change through reuniting the heart with politics and personal growth. The inspiration for the album came from a letter co-written by indigenous activists titled ‘We Are the Earth,’ which AURORA read in April 2022. The letter called for a revolution and a global response to global warming to help “heal the land.” It described the population as being connected to the land “through our hearts.” The earth was called “the heart that pulsates within us.”

AURORA’s latest album, ‘What Happened To The Heart?’ signifies her departure from writing in natural and open spaces, which she did in previous releases. This new era saw her step out of her comfort zone, working on the album while on tour and recording it in diverse locations like Norway, Germany, London, and Los Angeles. Aurora says this is her most personal and cathartic album ever written. The album features collaborations with various artists, including Ane Brun, Matias Tellez (Girl in Red, Maisie Peters), Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers, Chris Greatti (Yungblud, Blink-182, Pussy Riot), Dave Hamelin (Beyonce, King Princess, and Zara Larsson), Magnus Skylstad, and more. It is now available for pre-order.

In addition to numerous festival appearances, including Glastonbury, NOS Alive, Summer Sonic, and Sziget, AURORA has announced UK and European tour dates starting in September. The tour begins with a show in Milan on September 18, followed by shows in Vienna, Prague, Krakow, Berlin, Belgium, and more throughout the month. Two UK shows are scheduled for the beginning of October: a slot at the Royal Albert Hall on October 2 and a final show at the O2 Apollo in Manchester two days later. Tickets will be available for purchase starting April 5. AURORA’s upcoming album, ‘What Happened To The Heart?’ promises to be a compelling and thought-provoking project that explores complex themes personally and emotionally. With numerous festival appearances and tour dates lined up, fans can look forward to experiencing the album live.
