TV personality, Toke Makinwa welcomed comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, better known as AY, to the latest episode of her loved podcast talk show “Toke Moments.” AY and Toke talked about the evolution of social media and how it influences people’s lives, particularly when they are in the spotlight.
In the same interview, AY addressed for the first time his viral remark about Davido, which garnered him curses and other more colorful words from his fans. AY had mounted the stage in the viral video and made an insensitive joke about Davido’s ability to knock women up despite having a pretty little third leg.
AY claimed that he innocently made the joke to an audience on his tour, adding that it was well-received and one of the funniest moments on his act. But he went on to say that when the video had gone public, Amaju Pinnick called out Davido about a debt, so the viral clip hit the web at a wrong time, making his ‘joke’ come off as inappropriate.
AY said that Davido’s fans, who see themselves as his messiah and defender, have continued to attack him despite Davido’s lighthearted reaction to the ‘joke.’ He added that the joke was exaggerated due to false narratives pushed by blogs and the lack of proper investigation by Nigerians.
