Boney M’s Frank Farian Dies At Age 82

The legendary Boney M founder, Frank Farian, has passed away at the age of 82, as confirmed by his family. Farian, a German singer and record producer who created hits like ‘Rasputin’ and ‘Daddy Cool’, peacefully passed away at his Miami, Florida, home. He was also known for producing popular disco-funk group songs, including ‘Mary’s Boy Child/Oh My Lord’ and ‘Brown Girl in the Ring’. Throughout his illustrious career, Farian worked with other notable artists, like Stevie Wonder and Meat Loaf. He also founded the duo Milli Vanilli, who were hit by scandal in 1989 when it was exposed that they lip-synced their songs. Farian had reportedly been in poor health in recent years, undergoing heart surgery in 2022, where he received a pig heart valve. While the cause of death has not been disclosed, Farian’s family confirmed the news through his agency today.

It has been reported that the surgery had a detrimental effect on his health, causing him breathing difficulties and leaving him wheelchair-bound. Boney M, a legendary band that sold over 100 million records, achieved chart-topping success with hits such as ‘Rivers of Babylon/ ‘Brown Girl in the Ring’ and the Christmas Number One ‘Mary’s Boy Child’. Their album ‘Nightflight to Venus’ also reached the pinnacle of the charts.
