The iconic French cognac firm Martell has launched a blend called “Davido XO,” named after the Afro Music superstar, to commemorate its renewed collaboration with the leading Nigerian entertainer. The collaboration is an extension of Martell’s dedication to helping African talents and giving them a stage on which to display their abilities and creativity, the firm said in a statement.
Excited about the renewed collaboration and his dedication to promoting the brand, Davido, who has collaborated with Martell since 2020, took to social media to emphasize his enthusiasm. Alongside this, he disclosed that he and Martell are working on a new initiative that he believes would appeal to both the brand and his music lovers.
Martell had announced the collaboration of the new, unique blend dedicated to OBO’s honour months ago. Martell’s best cognacs, aged for up to 20 years in oak casks, are combined to create the mix known as “Davido XO.” Blended with elements of wood, spices, and dried fruits, it is considered to have a unique combination of smoothness and depth. It’s the first blend named after an African artist and is only available in Nigeria. Only a limited number of 1200 bottles are available for this rare collaboration.
At the invite-only party in Lagos to celebrate the launch, BBN winners IIebaye and Mercy Eke, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and other special guests were present. They had a great time, as seen by the trending clips from the event. Social media users took to the comments section to express their congratulations for such an applaudable feat, while others commented on banter.
