Ice Spice Reveals Her Debut Album, “Y2K,” Is Done

Ice Spice, a rapper from the Bronx, gained popularity in 2022 with her heart-pounding song “Munch (Feelin’ U).” Both fans and reviewers have been anticipating her debut album since then.

Ice Spice, real name Isis Naija Gaston, announced on social media on Tuesday that the project was completed with the simple message, “I finished recording y2k the album.” She also uploaded two pictures of herself sporting a jean skirt, pink platform shoes, and her trademark ginger ringlets as an accent. Her vibrant clothing contrasts with the dark and dismal background of the picture.

Although it’s unknown if the concept for her upcoming album will incorporate these visual references, Ice Spice has revealed more information about the project in recent months. The artist told Variety in September that although the tracklist, release date, and even the number of songs on it are all unknown, her preferred producer RiotUSA will be prominently featured in the credits.

A Lau, who has produced music for Jay Critch, Ski Mask the Slump God, and other figures in the New York Drill scene, will also contribute to the production. Additionally, she stated that she intends to co-produce a few of the songs. To further whet the appetites of her expanding fan base, Ice Spice, in a January interview, acknowledged that she has a “crazy collaboration” scheduled for “Y2k.”
