Iconic Hip Hop star Ja Rule named his Rap Mount Rushmore in a recent chat on The Breakfast Club. He did not hesitate to praise Lil Kim’s legacy in Hip Hop. While the “Holla, Holla” crooner has received major backlash online, he’s still a significant figure in the Hip Hop scene.
Speaking on The Breakfast Club, the New Yorker opened up about his Hip Hop career and the business moves he has made in recent years. He also revealed artists he would place on his Rap Mount Rushmore.
He did not find it easy naming just four rappers. Ja quickly named his first 3, Jay-Z, Tupac Shakur, and The Notorious B.I.G. Adding the last name, he said, “Either Big Daddy Kane, or Rakim, or [KRS One] because of what they did for the culture and what they meant to the culture. And what Rakim was to a Nas, you know what I’m saying? What KRS was to a whole generation of rappers… We never put the ladies in there… MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa.”
He continued, “They’re the reason other women picked up a microphone, period. How can you leave them off? You gotta [pick] one of them and put them on there.”
