Jack Dorsey Is “Team Kendrick” Amidst Drake Beef

The ongoing debate between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has become one of the most significant rap battles ever, with fans and celebrities weighing in on the argument. The former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has been following the high-profile battle, and it seems he is leaning towards supporting Kendrick Lamar.

Dorsey has shown his fondness for Lamar through various tweets. Firstly, he dug into Lamar’s Twitter account to find a tweet from 2011, in which the rapper promoted a concert he performed at on Drake’s Club Paradise tour. Dorsey reposted the tweet with a single heart emoji on May 3, initially puzzling fans. It was unclear whether Dorsey was endorsing Lamar over Drake, reminding fans that Drake helped Lamar through, or evoking a period when the two rappers were getting along. Dorsey clarified the matter in the following days when he reposted a video of Lamar and Jay Rock performing their 2012 song “Money Trees” at Best Buy. In the caption, he commended Lamar for working hard to improve his performance, suggesting that he was impressed with the rapper’s talent.

On May 8, Dorsey posted a link to Lamar’s music video for “Rich Spirit,” initially released in 2022. The song sees Lamar navigate the pressures of celebrity and the criticisms fans had for him in the years leading up to his album, Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. It’s worth noting that Dorsey even made a cameo in the music video for another Mr. Morale deep cut, “Count Me Out,” further showing his support for Lamar’s work.

While the debate between Kendrick Lamar and Drake continues, Jack Dorsey seems firmly in Lamar’s corner. Dorsey’s tweets show his admiration for Lamar’s talent and hard work and his enjoyment of the rapper’s music.
