Kanayo O. Kanayo States Nollywood Is Not A Space For “BBL, Runs & Instagram Stars”

Kanayo O. Kanayo, a renowned Nollywood veteran, has stated strong views about the future of the Nigerian film industry, colloquially known as Nollywood. The famed actor highlighted that Nollywood should be a forum for creativity and talent development, rather than a breeding ground for practices he considers unacceptable.

Kanayo O. Kanayo expressed his worries in a recent interview with Afia TV. He suggested that Nollywood not be used to promote practices like as Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), corporate sex work, or LGBTQ+ activities. Instead, it should prioritize encouraging creativity and developing actual talent.

He discussed how the industry should not be a place for amateurs looking for shortcuts, but rather a place where people can nurture and express their artistic abilities. Kanayo believes that prospective actors should analyze whether they have a true calling for performing rather than being drawn in by misconceptions or for the wrong motives.

Kanayo O. Kanayo emphasized the importance of having a fundamental understanding of the art before entering the profession. He encouraged people to choose acting as a career, emphasizing the importance of some type of education in order to be a part of the Nollywood scene.

Kanayo emphasized that prospective actors should focus on true dedication and passion rather than temporary stardom.
