The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices hosted the demonstration. Heritage House was secured for Peoples Democratic Party protesters. In Abuja, Peoples Democratic Party governors and leaders disputed the electoral results. Protesters included National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee, and party sympathizers.

The electoral umpire violated its criteria due to voter suppression, thuggery, and suspected results manipulation. The rules required accreditation and uploading polling unit results using Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), an electronic device that reads Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and authenticates voters. At the election, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said technical difficulties prevented that.

PDP protests peacefully

The PDP called a peaceful demonstration to express its dissatisfaction with the polls. The PDP leadership is condemning the presidential election cheating. Legacy House, PDP headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, hosted the demonstration around 10 am.

Police and DSS officers were at the protest site. The demonstrators began their march without interference from security. Some started wearing black, the protest’s dress code.

PDP protesters in Abuja accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of cheating and manipulating the presidential election results. The demonstration comes amid rising national anxiety and allegations of violence and instability. While contesting the presidential election in court, the PDP has called for peaceful protests.
