Reba McEntire’s Sitcom, “Happy’s Place” Approved To Series By NBC

Iconic American singer, Reba McEntire’s multi-camera comedy Happy’s Place has been ordered to series by NBC. It was disclosed by the network on Tuesday, May 7, in advance of its Upfronts presentation the following week, during which it would solicit advertising for its 2024–2025 schedule.

McEntire plays Bobbie in the show, who takes over her father’s restaurant after his death and isn’t exactly overjoyed to find her half-sister, whom she didn’t know she had, is now her business partner. Tokala Black Elk, Melissa Peterman, Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, and Rex Linn—McEntire’s boyfriend—are also featured in the series.

Reentering in the same role as Julie Abbott and McEntire are former executive producers of Reba, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis. Kevin Abbott, who oversaw Reba’s sitcom Malibu Country in 2012 and her television show from 2002 to 2007, wrote the series.

NBC is set to debut Happy’s Place later this year. The show is produced by Universal Television, a branch of Universal Studio Group. Reba made her coaching debut on NBC’s The Voice during season 24, and this show furthers her relationship with NBCUniversal. With Dan + Shay, Chance the Rapper, John Legend, and herself, she made a comeback this spring for season 25, releasing her brand-new song, “I Can’t.”

She will also perform the song when she returns to host the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16 for a record-tying 17 times.
