This comes after the singer created history by becoming the first African performer to get a Chinese Music Award. The singer accomplished this after winning the Republic of China’s 2024 Hito Music Award for Best Collaboration of the Year with his song “Calm Down” remix featuring American superstar Selena Gomez.

Hit FM, Taiwan presented the award, with DJ Andy serving as host. Rema will make history by being the second Nigerian performer at the Brit Awards. In 2018, Burna Boy gave a performance at the ceremony.

At the 2024 Brit Awards, Rema’s song “Calm Down” was nominated in the highly coveted International Song of the Year category, while Burna Boy and Asake were nominated in the star-studded International Artist of the Year category. The award ceremony is slated for March 2, 2023, in London. Sadly, no Nigerian has won a Brit Award yet.

Beyond the music, Rema has elevated herself to the status of cultural icon, working with top companies, appearing on magazine covers across the globe, and gaining millions of social media followers. The BRIT Awards audience is sure to be enthralled by his captivating stage presence and indisputable talent.
