Rema Explains Use Of “Demonic Mask” In O2 Concert
Rema, a well-known artist from Nigeria, responded to accusations that he had worn a “demonic” mask at his 02 Arena show. After his 02 Arena gig, some fans publicly accused him of being an Illuminati member. He responded to the allegations and claimed the mask was a replica of his forefathers’ stolen bronzes. A knowledgeable fan and other enthusiastic music lovers supported Rema and his Benin City claims, saying the mask belonged to Queen Idia, the Benin Kingdom’s national hero.
The fan continued, saying that Rema honoured his lineage by including Queen Idia’s mask in his performance because it symbolizes strength and power in Benin tradition. Rema expressed gratitude to the fans for their support and pride in how his songs and live performances emphasized his ethnic background.
“RAVAGE UPRISING/ My Ancestors’ bronzes sit in the museum of this very city so I remade mine. Hence, Edo is redefined, the map reshaped, your minds awakened & the mask reborn. Thank you, London! 🦇🇬🇧”
