Sergio Brown, A Former NFL Player, Has Been Apprehended In Connection With His Mother’s Mysterious Death

Following the passing of his mother in September, former NFL player Sergio Brown was arrested.

He was detained, according to San Diego police, following his Tuesday entry into the country from Mexico. He is presently awaiting extradition to Maywood, Illinois, where the body of his mother, Myrtle, was discovered last month close to her residence. Her death was determined to be a homicide, and police had issued a warrant for first-degree murder.

Midway through September, Myrtle and Sergio Brown went missing. Later, the body of Myrtle was discovered in a nearby creek. A few days later, someone claiming to be Brown sent a garbled video message to Instagram. Mexico was the target country of the post.

Police were informed by neighbors that the 35-year-old had been acting strangely before to going missing. According to sources cited by CNN, Brown was apprehended by Mexican authorities after they became aware of his movements for several weeks and transported back to the US.

Nick, Brown’s brother, paid tribute to his mother on social media in the days following Myrtle’s passing and also included Brown in the message. Brown, a free agent from Notre Dame who went undrafted, signed with the New England Patriots in 2010.

He participated in seven NFL seasons as a safety, spending time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts. In 2016, his final season, he appeared in eight games for the Buffalo Bills.
