Seun Kuti Featured As A Runway Model In Paris Fashion Week 2023

Seun Kuti, an Afrobeats performer, walked the runway for the French label Casablanca during Paris Fashion Week. The youngest son of Fela Kuti, the famed Afrobeat pioneer, proudly strolled down the catwalk in a colorful green and white attire.

The ensemble was part of Casablanca’s Printemps-Été 2024 collection. “Day of Victory” was the title of the show. The Afrobeats musician wore a green and white body suit called “Stuntman on Set” with the show’s stylists Ola Ebiti and Helena Tejedor. The purpose of Casablanca’s Day of Victory was to honor famous artists and activists while focusing on Africa’s progressive future.

The runway event was a “confluence of culture and philosophy” between Nigeria and Casablanca, according to the organizers. The clothing was created by the show’s designer, Charaf Tajer, to symbolize the “rich exchanges across cultural disciplines in African art, music, and film.” The culture and way of life of Nigeria have had a significant impact on the West.

The number of Western musicians working with leading Afrobeats musicians has significantly increased. Bubu Ogisi, a fashion designer with a base in Lagos, Ashley Okoli, and Korty EO recently appeared on the runway and adorned the Victoria Secret World Tour Premiere. Africans have made considerable progress thanks to Seun Kuti’s appearance on the runway.
