Solange Writes Music For The New York City Ballet

Solange has been busy creating new music while her sister has been focused on releasing Renaissance. Pitchfork reports that the artist is bringing her skills to Lincoln Center. The premiere of her work for the New York City Ballet is scheduled for September 28.

A chamber ensemble will perform Solange’s composition, and it will serve as the musical accompaniment to a Gianna Reisen-choreographed ballet. The “A Seat At The Table” singer’s regular colleagues as well as several members of the New York City Ballet Orchestra will make up the ensemble.

At New York’s Lincoln Center, the performance will be presented several times over the coming months. It will be performed again after its September debut on October 1, 8, 11, and 16, and then subsequently on May 2, 11, 13, and 17 and 18. The performance is a part of the Fall Fashion Gala by New York City Ballet.

Alejandro Gómez Palomo, a Spanish designer, will produce the costumes for Solange and Reisen’s performance as part of the event that brings together choreographers and designers. In addition, it appears like Solange is composing new music in addition to the ballet piece.

Master P praised the creations she was making in the studio and said, “Me and @solangeknowles in the studio turnt up working on her album!”
