Takeoff And Quavo Discuss Forming A Duo Outside Of The Migos: We “Easily Bounce Off” Each Other

Quavo and Takeoff started pursuing a collaboration throughout the summer without the help of Offset, the third member of their Migos group. In their first joint interview, the rappers admitted that they haven’t really seen a shift in their creative process since Offset left the group.

“The chemistry is the same, and the recording is the same,” Quavo said to Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller, hosts of Warner Music Group podcast, Rap Radar. “We always normally record by ourselves because we’re so crazy on just dropping new shit on each other.”

In the promo for the podcast episode that will air on August 18, Quavo and Takeoff focus more on their shared creative relationship rather than mentioning Offset by name. The three members of Migos grew up together in Atlanta even before they formed the group. Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle, and Offset is Quavo’s cousin.

When it came to collaborating with Quavo on several projects, Takeoff said, “The chemistry has been there since day one. We easily bounce off.” Quavo and Takeoff started releasing music simultaneously under their own names while the group has yet to formally address their status. In May, their first single, “Hotel Lobby,” with the alternative title “Unc and Phew,” was released.
