Tiwa Savage’s Debut Film “Water and Garri” Scheduled For Global Release On Prime Video
This year, Prime Video will exclusively release the Nigerian film “Water and Garri,” which stars famous singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage, in over 240 countries and territories across the globe.
Following a family mourning, the drama follows aspiring fashion designer Aisha (Savage) as she returns to her hometown after ten years away in the United States. Things have changed at home; there has been an increase in aggression and high levels of stress.
She has to learn to live with her wounds and face the shame she left behind as she makes new connections with her loved ones, old friends, and her former partner. The film, which was shot on Cape Coast, Ghana, features compelling storytelling and cinematography. Mike Afolarin (Far From Home), Andrew Bunting (Dynamite), and Jemima Osunde (New Money) are also featured in the drama.
Co-produced by Everything Savage, Unbound Studios, and JM Films, Water and Garri was written and produced by Comfort Emmanuel, directed and edited by Meji Alabi, and features songs by Tiwa Savage. The film is produced by Jimi Adesanya. Savage, Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna, Adesanya, and Alabi are the executive producers.
Alongside global Amazon Original and exclusive shows and films including Gen V, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Wheel of Time, Riches, and Coming 2 America, Tiwa’s film joins other Nigerian content available on Prime Video.
