Tyla Delivers Her Eagerly-Awaited Self-Titled Debut Album

The Grammy Award-winning South African singer Tyla, whose viral 2023 song “Water” propelled her to worldwide recognition and a Grammy trophy last month, has released her self-titled first album, which is accessible for download and streaming on all major digital platforms.

Her breakthrough single, “Water,” and other hits including “On and On” and “Truth or Dare” preceded the 14-track album, which was recorded over three years and distributed by Epic and Fax. A music video for the song “ART” was also released alongside the album.

It featured US celebrities Gunna, Travis Scott, and Becky G., as well as Tems from Nigeria and Skillibeng from Jamaica. Sir Nolan, Believve, Rayo, Mocha, and Sammy SoSo oversaw the production. A full-length effort from the 21-year-old has been eagerly awaited since her big break, bolstered by financial and critical success worldwide, including being the highest charting African female soloist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 and hitting platinum in South Africa.

The record, which follows Tyla’s formula from previous releases, sounds primarily like a mix of pop and Afrobeats with R&B and amapiano. In order to promote the album, Tyla will go on tour. The trip will start in Norway this month and end in the US in May.
