Westside Gunn Doesn’t Want Any “Rap Beefs” As He Reacts To Post

Westside Gunn is an exceptionally talented and dedicated rapper who has earned a reputation as one of the hardest-working artists in the music industry. Over the past four years, he has released an impressive ten projects, both as a solo artist and as part of Griselda, showcasing his versatility and skill as a performer. Unlike some of his peers, Westside Gunn doesn’t want to rely on hype or media attention to gain recognition. Instead, he lets his music speak for itself, delivering consistent, high-quality content that resonates with most fans. Despite the recent surge in rap battles and kinds of beef among artists, Westside Gunn has no interest in participating in any “for sport” beef, likely due to his past experiences with real-life conflicts, and he made that implication as he responded to a post that seemed to suggest he gets into some “music beef.”

While he has thrown subliminal shots at other rappers in the past, such as Hus Kingpin, he has also shown a willingness to reconcile and move on. For example, he patched things up with Griselda affiliate The God Fahim in 2020 and even posted photos together on Christmas. Similarly, his feud with Mach Hommy was resolved in favour of making great music, highlighting his commitment to collaboration and creativity over “seemingly” petty squabbles. One can rarely argue that it’s clear that Westside Gunn values some level of authenticity and genuine relationships with his peers rather than indulging in social media antics and trolls. This approach has earned him respect and admiration from fans and fellow artists alike.

Ironically, Westside Gunn’s influence on the Griselda sound and his ear for production have indirectly shaped the mainstream “Civil War” beef between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and others. He was one of the first rappers to work with Conductor Williams, who went on to provide beats for Drake’s latest album, For All the Dogs. Conductor also co-produced J. Cole’s diss track towards Kendrick Lamar, “7 Minute Drill.”

Indeed, Westside Gunn’s dedication to creating his understanding of exceptional music and fostering genuine relationships with his peers has established him as a highly respected figure in the rap community—only a few can argue this. While some fans may want to see him engage in a rap battle, it’s clear that Westside Gunn’s focus is on curating and creating unique music that stands the test of time.
