Latto, commonly known as Big Latto, is the stage name of Alyssa Michelle Stephens, an American rapper and vocalist born on December 22, 1998. She debuted in 2016 on the reality competition show The Rap Game hosted by American rapper Jermaine Dupri, where she went by the stage name Miss Mulatto and took home the first-season win. Despite winning the competition, she turned down the record deal.
Latto signed with RCA Records after releasing her single “Bitch from da Souf” in 2019. Latto was nominated for Top Rap Female Artist at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards and Best New Hip Hop Artist at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards. She belonged to the 2020 XXL Freshman Class. In February 2021, MTV Global named her Push Artist of the Month. In 2022, she won the BET Award for Best New Artist. Latto was nominated for three 2022 MTV Video Music Awards categories: Best New Artist, Video for Good, and Best Hip Hop. She was a 2023 Grammy Award nominee for Best New Artist.
