Alicia Keys And Roc Nation Dole Out $60K To Support A Performing Arts School

Alicia Keys and Roc Nation have inspired a seventh-grade student to save her school’s performing arts department.

In response to financial cuts that could permanently terminate the school’s arts department, the singer-songwriter and the multidisciplinary group donated $60,000 to the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City on Monday, March 18. This information was first revealed by TMZ on March 18.

As an alumna of the institution herself, Keys holds great personal significance for the cause, which is presently led by 12-year-old Tennyson Artigliere. With almost $56k already raised on her GoFundMe and counting, the student has surpassed her target of $102k, which she attributes to the big financial push.

Alumnus of the school, actor Jeremy Allen White, has sent in a donation in the past and even posted the link on his Instagram page. Moreover, Alicia Keys and Roc Nation have committed to support annual fund-raising efforts for the program until the city is able to provide funding on its own.

In other news, the Broadway premiere of Alicia Keys’ musical Hell’s Kitchen is almost here thanks to the recent casting announcement. The play, which was revealed by Deadline last month, will star Shoshana Bean, Kecia Lewis, Brandon Victor Dixon, and Chris Lee and Maleah Joi Moon in their debut Broadway performance.
