Tems Is Awarded Songwriter Of The Year At The 2023 BMI Awards
Tems keeps adding to her recent achievements by bagging the Songwriter of the Year award at the 2023 BMI Awards.
The awards ceremony, which took place Sunday at Miami’s LIV nightclub, was star-studded and spectacular. Tems won her fourth BMI award for Songwriter of the Year. She was recognized for her work on Free Mind, Lift Me Up, and WAIT FOR U. The famous event honors the finest talents, accomplishments, and collaborations born in the entertainment sector.
Songwriters, producers, and music publishers from all around the world are highlighted and celebrated. The BMI awards are given out every year to recognize musical talents who have performed the most songs from the BMI library that year. Along with Tems, foreign acts such as Doja Cat, Ice Spice, and Chris Brown received honors last night.
Temilade Openiyi, born Temilade Openiyi, rose to prominence after appearing on Wizkid’s track Essence. The song charted at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. She has since collaborated with musicians such as Future, Rihanna, and Drake.
When she was eleven years old, she stopped listening to other musicians so she could focus on establishing her own voice. Her debut album is eagerly anticipated, but she and her crew have remained discreet about it.
