Burna Boy Hits Another Huge Milestone As “I Told Them” Grosses 400M Spotify Streams

Grammy-winning Nigerian Afro-fusion musician, Burna Boy, creates history by breaking the Spotify streaming record with three of his albums. The Nigerian music sensation who rose to fame in 2018, has become one of the most commercially successful musicians in the world.

With yet another impressive move, the singer breaks through as the first African artist to have three albums eclipse 400 million Spotify plays. This accomplishment was made possible by his seventh album, “I Told Them,” which produced the smash song “City Boys,” which has had over 400 million streams.

The record becomes the third album to reach 400 million streams, following “African Giant,” his fourth album, and “Love, Damini,” his sixth album. With his Grammy-nominated 2019 album “African Giant,” Burna Boy rose to superstar status after garnering notice on a global scale with his breakthrough track “YE.”

The album included the hits “Killin Dem,” “Dangote,” “Gbona,” and “On The Low,” which has received a diamond certification in France. His Grammy-nominated sixth album, “Love, Damini,” which features popular songs like “Last Last,” which is platinum recognized by the RIAA, “For My Hand,” “Different Size,” which features Victony, “Vanilla,” and “Common Person,” holds the record for being his most streamed album.

This record-breaking achievement is another indication of Burna Boy’s standing as the premier African musician who is still setting the standard for African music around the world.
