Chance The Rapper Is Back In Ghana For The Holidays And New Year Celebrations

It’s the holidays and American hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper is back in Ghana! The rapper was seen gyrating with a large group of partygoers at the iMullar SoundSystem at Front Back in Accra, Ghana’s capital.

Black Star Line Festival was previously organized in January 2023 by Chance and Vic Mensa. Chance the Rapper is one of the numerous black international celebrities who have adopted the practice of celebrating Christmas and New Year’s in Ghana.

Letitia Wright, Dadju, Charlamagne Tha God, and other celebrities from the diaspora also visited Ghana for the Christmas celebrations back in 2022. Other stars who have paid the country a holiday visit include international producer Jae Murphy, professional dirt bike rider and actor Chino Braxton, British-Nigerian grime musician Skepta, and British rapper Dreya Mac, among others.

Although Chance and Mensa’s first-ever festival in Accra, Ghana was largely a success, drawing an estimated 50,000 fans from across the world, Dave Chappelle and Talib Kweli’s participation was seen as disrespectful given Accra’s present political environment.

The aforementioned surprise guests drew controversy because of Chappelle’s previous anti-trans jokes and Kweli’s Twitter ban following allegations that he had harassed a Black woman named Maya Monroe.

The Grammy Award-winning musician, real name Chancelor Jonathan Bennet, is renowned for his mixtape releases, including Acid Rap and Coloring Book, which won the BET Award for best mixtape and the Grammy Award for best rap album.
