CKay Appreciates Tekno And Runtown’s Efforts In Making Afrobeats Popular Worldwide

Chukwuka Ekweani, also known as CKay, a Nigerian musician, has credited Tekno and Runtown’s music with paving the way for afrobeat music’s global popularity. On Friday, June 16, 2023, he tweeted this, reiterating that the Nigerian music business would one day hold a roundtable to discuss the contribution of Tekno and Runtown to the development of Afrobeats.

The singer claimed that songs like Love Nwantiti, Emiliana, Ku Lo Sa, and Calm Down were made possible by Tekno and Runtown’s sound. His tweet hasn’t generated much controversy so far because almost everyone concurs. Even before Afrobeats was acknowledged as a major global brand, Tekno and Runtown did a lot for the genre.

Both singers have released anthems that have permanently changed the course of Afrobeats. Rema, too, praised Tekno when he tweeted a photo of him and labelled him as a legend. CKay, on the other hand, knows what he’s talking about because he has direct artistic inspiration and knowledge from Alhaji Tekno, who he featured on “NNEKA,” a new tune off the deluxe edition of CKay’s recent record, “Sad Romance.”

Runtown, on the other hand, appears to be taking a more laid-back approach to fame, growing out his hair and making fantastic songs while avoiding the media. His most recent album, “$igns,” was widely lauded and remains high on the Nigerian music charts. It’s always touching to see younger, more famous musicians present flowers to the legends who came before them.
