Doja Cat Tries To Lip-Sync Kanye West’s “BACK TO ME” Lyrics As Fans React To Post
The new album VULTURES 1 by Ty Dolla $ign and Kanye West was released last month. After several months of waiting, the record was finally released, and controversy surrounded it right away. The contentious lyrics on the album, wherein West reiterated antisemitic talking points, were largely responsible for that. In addition, West has received criticism for objectifying women in a number of his lyrics, some of which are found on the song “BACK TO ME.” The song attracted Doja Cat’s attention right away and quickly rose to the top of the record’s attention-grabbing tunes.
Over the weekend, the “Paint the Town Red” singer posted a TikTok in which she can be seen swaying to the song “BACK TO ME.” She is specifically going through the line from the song that most struck out to many other fans. It’s an excerpt from the character Jay in the movie Dogma. The song features both West’s vocals over the original sample and the audio of the original sample. Doja does her best to recite the tongue-twisting, rapid-fire phrase in her latest video. She struggles with the mouthful of words, just like many others do, and after failing a few times in a row, she seems to go into a spiral.
Doja Cat’s latest album, Scarlet, was released last year. Her two biggest hits to date came after the moderately successful single “Attention” that opened the album. “Paint the Town Red” became her second number-one song on the Hot 100 after “Say So.” “Agora Hills” from the album was another hit that peaked at number seven and went on to become a top 10 song. Doja started to tease a deluxe version of the album last month. Although she gave a hint, she hasn’t yet provided any specific information regarding the release date.
