Drake Lashes Out At The Media For “Cashing Out” On Negativity

On January 16th, Drake, the famous Canadian rapper, took to his Instagram Stories to post a video clip from a 2014 press conference featuring retired American football coach Nick Saban. The video was taken after a University of Alabama football game, which Saban was the coach of at the time. In the clip, Saban talks about the importance of giving young people the space to recover from their mistakes and how the media often exacerbates missteps in the public eye. Saban emphasizes the importance of redemption and second chances, suggesting that people should not be judged solely on past mistakes. Drake’s decision to share the video clip seems to align with his beliefs about second chances, redemption, and the importance of not judging people based on past mistakes.

The sport’s veteran began,

“When somebody does something wrong, everybody wants to know how you’re going to punish the guy,”

“Guy makes a mistake, but where do you want him to be? You want him to be in the street or do you want him to be here, graduating?

“I feel strong about this now — really strong — about all the criticism out there of every guy that’s 19-years-old that makes a mistake and you all kill him. And some people won’t stand up for him, so my question to you is: where do you want him to be? Do you want to condemn them till a life sentence or do you want the guy to have his children going to Princeton?”

Drake added his thoughts to the above comments, saying,

Journalistic world cashing out on negativity and discouraging the youth from finding their way more now than ever… the noise is all calculated keep pushing forward.”
