Indian Rapper Sidhu Moose Wala Shot And Killed Near His Home

Sidhu Moose Wala, a rapper-turned-politician, was shot and killed near his India residence on Sunday at 28. Wala was killed when yet-to-be-identified shooters attacked his vehicle near his home on Sunday. A report has put the number of the shooters at between 10 and 12.

According to Punjab’s chief of police VK Bhawra, the shooters who attacked Wala fired thirty rounds of shots from point-blank range at Wala and his two friends who were in the SUV at the time of the incident. Eight bullets hit different parts of Wala’s body, instantly killing the rapper, while his two friends sustained various injuries. One of his friends has now reportedly died as a badly pierced body of the rapper could be seen in videos of the attack shared on social media.

It is unknown whether the attack is career-related or politically motivated, but a statement from a spokesperson for the BJP party, on whose platform Wala contested a recent election, has blamed the Indian government for the attack. Describing it as a state-sponsored attack, the BJP party has said the government is responsible for the attack.

A couple of hours after the attack, Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster and Lawrence Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the murder, which occurred barely 24 hours after the AAP government took away Wala’s security details.

Sidhu Moose Wala had contested the Punjab assembly election in February on a Congress ticket from Mansa and was defeated by the AAP candidate Vijay Singla by a massive margin of 63,000 votes to Wala’s 36,000 votes. In a dramatic turn of events, Vijay Singla was recently sacked by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann over corruption charges, giving rise to a probable call for another election or the automatic award of the mandate to Sidhu Moose Wala. It is now believed the rapper was murdered in connection to events surrounding the office.
