Joni Mitchell Brings Her Music Library Back To Spotify After Boycotting The Streaming Service In 2022

The music of American singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell is now again available on Spotify, and hopefully it will be around for a while.

Following the withdrawal of Mitchell’s music in 2022, fans noticed on Thursday that it has returned on the streaming service. The 80-year-old Mitchell, who declared in January 2022 that she was removing her music from Spotify, has not yet addressed the issue of her songs being available again on the platform.

Her departure from Spotify was motivated by a protest against the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, which was disseminating false information regarding COVID-19. Shortly after Neil Young’s music was removed, she made her decision.

In her statement, Mitchell also included a link to an open letter to Spotify, signed by medical professionals and doctors claiming that Rogan’s podcast disseminated false information and encouraged ludicrous conspiracy theories, with a troubling history of doing so, especially in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier this month, Young posted a message on his website announcing his return to Spotify. The Grunge Godfather clarified in his statement that The Joe Rogan Experience is now available on Apple Music and Amazon Music and is no longer only available on Spotify.
