Keyshia Cole Announces New Album; Pays Tribute To Late Mother During Los Angeles Show

Remember Keyshia Cole?

The renowned “Sent From Heaven” crooner has announced her eighth album during a moving tribute to her late mother, Frankie Lons, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. This album is her first in almost seven years and the first since her mother’s passing. While bringing up Lons on stage, Cole became emotional. Keshia and her mother, who was battling addiction, had a tumultuous relationship, as reported by the media. However, she provided no information about the album’s title or release date for the expected project. Afterwards, she performed one of her tracks, “I’ve Changed.” It was a poignant moment that touched the hearts of the audience.

She said,

“I’m wanna say I appreciate you. If you ever bought an album,”

“Album eight right now on the way. I wanna give a shout out to my mom Frankie. If you watched the reality show, if you watched her: I just wanna say thank you. You helped change my life. Thank you.”

Back in 2022, the R&B singer Keyshia Cole received a fair amount of backlash from social media users after her contribution to Lifetime’s project “This Is My Story” premiered. The project centred around her tumultuous relationship with Lons, which some individuals deemed too personal to be showcased publicly. Despite this criticism, the film still premiered last year. When asked about the backlash, Cole responded thoughtfully to those who found the project disrespectful.

“Degrading my mother. ? I wanted the best for my mom. You prefer my story not be my story? At times I have too. But my truth is my truth. I just live mine loud. (while some suffer in silence. But This will come wit all that I do, So speak YOUR TRUTH, but yours ain’t mine. [heart emoji] . And I’m addition to that I have recorded a record that will be in the movie dedicated to my mother. (You all may or may not like it) but….. This movie was healing in some ways for me, so very appreciative of having this happen.”
