Mavin Records Marks Its 12-Year Anniversary

Mavin Records, a leading Afrobeats record label, is celebrating its 12th year anniversary.

The label founded 12 years ago, places a strong emphasis on “building a legacy together for Nigeria, for Africa, and the global music community,” according to seasoned musician and producer Don Jazzy.

Mavin, an entertainment company based in 2012 that has gained significant recognition in Africa over the past ten years, provides a comprehensive range of services encompassing management, publishing, sync, production, and strategic alliances.

Don Jazzy said that 2024 is a “landmark year in so many ways” in a statement made to commemorate the label’s anniversary. Established in 2012, Mavin is widely recognized as one of the most significant entertainment organizations in Africa for the current decade.

The company offers a comprehensive range of services encompassing management, publishing, sync, production, and strategic alliances. The company and Kupanda Holdings formed an equity investment partnership in 2019. In February, Universal Music Group announced a significant investment in the label; the acquisition is anticipated to completion by the end of 2024’s third quarter subject to regulatory approval.

During its early years, Mavin is recognized for having sparked the careers of artists like D’banj, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, and Reekado Banks. Afrobeats popstars Rema and Selena Gomez, whose worldwide hit “Calm Down” became the first African artist-led single to achieve 1 billion Spotify plays, currently call it home. Ayra Starr, a Grammy nominee, is another Mavin signee.
