Media Personality, Adesope, Questions Rema’s Exclusion From The 2024 Grammy Nominees List

Adesope, AKA Shopsydoo, a Nigerian media figure residing in the UK, has responded to the 2024 Grammy Awards nominee list that was just made public. Shopsydoo, however, voiced dissatisfaction with Divine Ikubor Rema’s exclusion from the list in a live stream.

It turns out that Rema’s popular song Calm Down—including the remix featuring Selena Gomez—was probably taken off the list because it was released in 2022. Rema’s exclusion from the 2024 Grammy nominees list has sparked quite the controversy on social media, some mocking the singer and others expressing their genuine let down at the snub.

Remy boy, however, seems unaffected as he is yet to address the apparent snub. That notwithstanding, the Rave Lorde has been on an insane winning spree all 2023, the most recent being his historic win at the recently concluded MTV EMAs.

Rema and Diamond Platnumz, a Tanzanian musician, were among the victors, winning Best Afrobeats and Best African Act, respectively. Rema defeated Aya Nakamura, Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, and Davido among other nominees in the same category. The Best Afrobeats Award has never been given out at the MTV EMAs before, so it was a monumental win for Rema and Afrobeats.

While Rema awaits to shit down the O2 Arena next week, he just released the crispy, hot visuals to “Trouble Maker,” a new track off his lastest blockbuster EP, “Ravage.”
