Ne-Yo Under Fire From His Babymama For His Anti-Trans Remarks
One of Ne-Yo’s child’s mothers is speaking out after he criticized parents who allow their children to change genders, making it obvious that his opinions do not correspond with hers.
The singer’s baby mother, Monyetta Shaw-Carter, who is also the mother of Madilyn and Mason, told TMZ that she is well aware of what he recently stated regarding the transgender community and that, while she respects his opinions, “Those views are HIS.”
She went on to say that while she supports the LGBTQ+ community, she is not criticizing Ne-Yo for what he said and that they continue to have a good relationship as co-parents.
Ne-Yo criticized parents who support their children’s gender identity change, claiming that he only knew two genders growing up and that he doesn’t have an issue with people identifying whatever they like. whatever, he continued, “It becomes my business when you try to make me play the game.”
He afterwards expressed his “sincere apologies” to anyone he may have offended with his remark, only to later clarify that he was not sorry for his opinion, only for the feelings hurt. Ne-Yo further asserted that keeping disagreements away from the kids is how he maintains good connections with Monyetta, his ex-wife Crystal, and his ex-girlfriend Sadé.
