President Tinubu Presents Toke Makinwa’s Father With A Political Appointment

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) now has a new chairman in the person of Chief Pius Akinyelure, Toke Makinwa’s father, following President Bola Tinubu’s appointment.

Toke, not minding how Nigerians would react, joyfully shared the good news on her Instagram page. The media personality posted a photo of her father meeting President Tinubu during a recent meeting.

In addition to calling Akinyelure “daddy and papa,” the talk show host expressed her pride in him, saying she trusts that he is the “man for the job.” Last month, President Bola Tinubu gave his approval to Akinyelure’s appointment, while retaining Mele Kyari, the group’s CEO. The appointments became fully functional on December 1.

This also wouldn’t the first time Makinwa gushes about Akinyelure’s wins. Back in 2020, she had congratulated him for being appointed as the company’s southwest board member at the time. Furthermore, Toke Makinwa’s recent posts in relation to politics have drawn critiscm on social media.

Last week on X, a social media influencer and crypto big boy, Danny, mentioned Makinwa and her sponsored trip to Dubai alongside other big wigs in Nigerian politics in his tweet when he was describing the sorry state of the country.

Toke picked offence and promised to come for him in the coming year, to which the influencer was happy to oblige her. It’s definitely going to be an interesting 2024.
