TikTok Launches Its Newest Feature In Partnership With Music Streaming Services

TikTok and streaming music providers Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music are collaborating on a new feature that will let users directly save songs they hear in TikTok videos straight to their favorite streaming music app.

The announcement of the collaboration comes in the nick of time with the growing impact of TikTok on music charts and the discovery of up-and-coming musicians. The TikTok-inspired redesign of Spotify’s app earlier this year, which included condensed music and podcast discovery feeds, is another example of the video-sharing app’s strong influence.

Moving forward, users can save a song to their streaming music app by tapping the “Add to Music app” option that appears at the bottom of a TikTok video in the For You Feed, along with the track name. Users can choose their preferred music service to designate as their default when they first hit this button.

Though Spotify has promised to assist more markets in the future, TikTok users in the United States and the United Kingdom will be able to save music to their “Liked Songs” playlist on Spotify. You can find the option on the Settings page under “Music,” in addition to setting it up by default when you first use the new function.

In the United States and the United Kingdom, listeners of Amazon Music will also have access to similar features. As Apple Music is a premium service, only customers who have paid for it will be able to access this function.
