“The Tortured Poets Department” By Taylor Swift Becomes The First Album To Exceed 200M Spotify Streams In Just One Day

American popstar, Taylor Swift has made history on Spotify with her latest release, “The Tortured Poets Department,” becoming the first album to surpass 200 million streams in a single day.

The achievement occurs less than a day after the release, suggesting that once the totals are in, the numbers may rise even further. “Midnights” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” held the previous records for the most albums streamed in a single day, but Swift currently has the top three spots.

Furthermore, Swift has surpassed all other artists in Spotify history in terms of daily stream statistics with “Poets.” In October of last year, she released “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” shattering her record as the most streamed artist in a single day.

Swift was shattering records on Spotify even before “Poets” dropped; a day before the album’s release, it became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history. “Poets” was originally supposed to be a 16-track album with Post Malone and Florence + the Machine as special guests.

Before the album dropped, she didn’t release any singles, and the only information that was available was what she hinted at. However, Swift disclosed that she had a secret two hours after it was released on streaming sites, releasing 15 more tracks to bring the total number of cuts on the project to 31.
