“Water” By Tyla Sells Over 1M Units In The US

With the success of her single “Water,” South African singing sensation, Tyla has achieved her first platinum certification in the US.

Her song has become a worldwide hit, resulting in numerous nominations and increased visibility. In 2023, she received nominations for numerous accolades, including the Grammy accolades, the MOBO Awards, the South African Style Awards, and the African Entertainment Awards USA.

Fans are anticipating more from Tyla with the release of Butterlies, Truth or Dare, and Water’s remix with American music icon Travis Scott. Her new platinum status achieved in the United States comes days after she had earned her first platinum status in South Africa, and for the same song.

The certification was made public prior to Tyla’s scheduled trip to Los Angeles for the 66th Grammy Awards, which will take place on February 5th. Tyla is a nominee for Best African Music Performance. Tyla has solidified her status as one of Africa’s rising stars during the last 12 months.

In addition to reaching the top 20 on multiple international Billboard charts, “Water” received platinum certifications in Brazil, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. In addition to Belgium, it has gold status in France, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Greece, and Turkey.

“Water” also peaked at No. 7 on the list, making Tyla the highest charting African female soloist in Billboard Hot 100 history.
