Will Smith Discusses Floyd Mayweather’s Support For Him Following The Oscars Slap

Will Smith has spoken out about the encouragement he got from Floyd Mayweather after his contentious Oscars performance.

In a video posted by TMZ, Smith is seen explaining to a group of visitors how his friendship with Mayweather came about while the former boxing champion nods and listens. Will claims that before the 2022 Oscars, the two had just had a fleeting acquaintance.

However, Floyd Mayweather personally contacted him after he came under fire for hitting Chris Rock over an offensive joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith claimed.

“For 10 days, he called me every day,” he rehashed. “And he was like, ‘Ay! You know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it.’ Every day, he called me. And it’s like, that’s my dude forever right there.”

Although the location and time of the video’s capture are unknown, it appears to be a screening for Will Smith’s next film Emancipation, which will be released in theaters on December 2, which took place on Monday (October 24). Dave Chappelle served as the host of the exclusive peek, which featured Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Kenya Barris, Tyler Perry, and others.
