UMG Says It “Will Not Intervene” In Drake And Kendrick Lamar Battle; Denies TMZ Allegations

The feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has been a hot topic in the music industry for a while now. Many fans eagerly follow every move made by the two rappers. However, the feud has also been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories. On May 7, Drake’s record label, Universal Music Group (UMG), was accused of stepping in and ending the feud because Drake was allegedly “losing.” A document surfaced online detailing the steps UMG had taken to resolve the dispute.

The document claimed that UMG had contacted The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar, asking them to end their battle with Drake. It also mentioned Zoom meetings with the respective labels and alleged that UMG was losing money due to Drake’s paedophile allegations. The document stated that “Drake is losing the beef in UMG’s eyes” and that UMG saw it as their responsibility to end the feud. However, UMG reps denied these claims and told TMZ they had never considered getting involved in the feud. They affirmed the feud between the two artists and said that UMG did not see it as their place to intervene.

Despite the rumours, UMG is profiting from the ongoing feud. Drake and Kendrick Lamar are expected to receive over 250 million streams in the United States this week, accounting for 20% of all streams on the Billboard Hot 100. Drake, who is signed to UMG, managed to land a top 20 single with “Push Ups.” Additionally, his follow-up diss, “Family Matters,” trended at number one on YouTube, receiving an impressive 17 million views. Although reports by DJ Akademiks suggested that Drake had another diss track ready to be released on May 7, its release was delayed due to a shooting outside his home. The feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar continues to be a topic of interest for fans, and it remains to be seen how it will ultimately play out.
