On March 5, 1937, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, South Western Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Ogunboye Aremu Obasanjo, GCFR, was born. He graduated from the Baptist Boys High School in Abeokuta and worked as a teacher until entering the Nigerian Army in 1958. Olusegun Obasanjo presided over Nigeria, the most populous African country, from 1999 to 2007.
