Teyana MeShay Jacqueli Shumpert (née Taylor), an American singer, actor, dancer, and choreographer, was born on December 10, 1990. She inked a record deal with the Star Trak Entertainment brand in 2005. She joined to Kanye West’s GOOD Music label through Def Jam after requesting to be freed from her recording contract with Star Trak.

She had an appearance on the GOOD Music compilation album Cruel Summer (2012), which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. Taylor first released her studio album VII in 2014; it was followed by K.T.S.E. (2018) and The Album (2020), the latter of which peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200.
