Ali Baba, Shola Shobowale, And Mr. Macaroni Win Big At The First Nigeria Comedy Awards

At the inaugural Nigeria Comedy Awards, legendary Nigerian comedian Ali Baba and seasoned actress Shola Shobowale led the train of winners.

Famous comedians from the industry, including Bowoto Jephthah nicknamed Akpororo, Adewale Debo aka Mr. Macaroni, Samuel Perry as Broda Shagi, and the Ajasco family, performed at the event on September 24 at the Eko Convention Center in Lagos.

According to WapTv’s chairman, Wale Adenuga, a fantastic team of specialists, including Debbie Odutayo, Bunmi Davies, and Omoh, meticulously arranged the first comedy award event after winning the franchise to produce Nigeria comedy awards.

The highly anticipated event saw Layi Wasabi win the Revelation of the Year Award, which came with a payout of N1 million. Enorense Victory aka Kiriku, a well-known young comedian, also received the same amount of money for winning the “Best Comedy Kid” category.

Among the other prominent winners were Bright Okocha for best male stand-up comedian, Helen Paul for best female stand-up comedian, Adebowale Debo for best male comedy skit creator, and Maryam Apaokagi aka Taaooma for best female comedy skit maker.

Shola Shobowale, Alibaba Akpobome, the Ajasco family, and Wale Adenuga himself among others won the category for special recognition award. The music business was not left out, as Innocent Idibia, also known as Tubaba, and Alexander Abolore, aka 9ice, wowed the audience with exciting performances.
