The passing of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, a highly regarded leader of the Fountain of Life Church, has left a noticeable void in the religious community of Nigeria, as evidenced by the turnout at his funeral service.
His recent funeral service served as a testament to the immense influence and admiration he had garnered. The ceremony was attended by several distinguished clergymen and notable figures, including the renowned Nigerian Artist-cum-Politician and Pastor Bankole Wellington, who is also known as Banky W.
The sudden passing of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya on August 7 in the United States at the age of 67 left many in shock and sadness. The funeral service was attended by Bishop Mike Okonkwo, the Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission; Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, the Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre; and David Abioye, First Vice President of the Living Faith Church Worldwide and the Senior Pastor in charge of the Abuja church. The presence of these prominent leaders at the funeral highlights the significant impact that Pastor Odukoya had on his community and the religious sector in Nigeria.
Pastor Odukoya’s life was a journey of faith, leadership, and dedication to changing lives. At the ceremony, Bishop David Abioye of the Living Faith Ministries, Winners Chapel, delivered a sermon praising Pastor Odukoya’s accomplishments and expressing his sorrow at the cleric’s passing. He encouraged everyone present to make the most of their time on earth, emphasizing that while everyone will eventually die, what matters most in the end is the legacy one leaves behind.
Pastor Odukoya, a beloved preacher, experienced multiple heartbreaking losses in recent years. His 47-year-old wife, Nomthi Odukoya, lost her two-year battle with cancer in November 2021. The couple had been married for 11 years and shared two children. Before Nomthi, Pastor Odukoya was married to Bimbo, who tragically died in the Sosoliso plane crash 2005. Together, they had three children, including Jimmy, who starred in the Netflix movie Woman King.
Additionally, Pastor Odukoya’s twin sister, Kehinde Hassan, passed away in December 2021 after a battle with illness. Despite the immense personal heartache, Pastor Odukoya remained committed to his calling. He continued to serve his congregation and inspire many through his unwavering faith and perseverance.
