Black Sherif Comments On Ghana’s Continuing Protests

Award-winning musician Black Sherif responded to the ongoing problems in Ghana that have led to people taking to the streets and protesting the ruling administration in a post uploaded on his social media site today, Thursday, September 21, 2023.

According to Okay Africa, Accra, Ghana saw a group of nonviolent protesters who had gathered outside a government building as part of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse campaign in the early hours of Thursday, September 21st. Their main goal was to express their worries about President Nana Akufo-Addo’s handling of the ongoing economic difficulties.

People were detained by the police during the protests, which sparked widespread criticism and backlash on social media. Blacko himself made a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. In his tweet, Blacko indicated that he witnessed the president’s talk at the United Nations Conference in New York City and left shortly afterward.

The “Simmer Down” hitmaker expressed surprise at the amount of money President Akufo-Addo requested from the UN. He questioned the government’s usage of such vast sums, claiming that there is zero accountability for previously borrowed funds.

This comes after the artist paid a heartfelt homage to the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, whose untimely passing shocked the music industry. During an Instagram Live session, Black Sherif conveyed his heartfelt grief over the death of his fellow artist.
