Tommy Richman Makes An Astounding Hot 100 Debut With “Million Dollar Baby”

Tommy Richman, a fast-rising musician from Virginia, makes his debut on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Million Dollar Baby.” The song’s release saw incredible growth during its initial promotion, which began on April 13 when Richman shared a preview of it online.

The original teaser for the song, which makes full use of its infectious bassline and chorus, received over 8 million views on TikTok before going viral. Based on data from Luminate, the song was published on April 26 and makes its Hot 100 debut at No. 2 with 38 million streams and 302,000 radio airplay audience impressions.

Since appearing on Brent Faiyaz’s “Upset,” which peaked at Nos. 12 and 33 on the publication’s Hot R&B Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, respectively, Richman has only appeared twice on the Billboard charts and once on the Hot 100. Richman is under contract with ISO Supremacy, owned by Brent Faiyaz.

Since Oliver Anthony Music became the first act to top the Hot 100 with no prior chart history with “Rich Men North of Richmond,” Richman’s No. 2 debut is the highest for a first Hot 100 entry by an artist without prior chart experience. Richman may appear to be a newbie to the music industry considering “Million Dollar Baby’s” sudden success.

However, he began recording music at least in 2016. His Spotify page features “Ballin’ Stalin” as its debut song; he has since released singles and EPs.
