Calvin Harris Responds Sharply To A Critic Of His Ultra Music Festival 2024 Set List
Calvin Harris is standing up for his track selections in the wake of a fan’s criticism of the set he performed during this past weekend’s Ultra Music Festival 2024 in Miami.
The Scottish DJ/producer responded on social media to a festivalgoer who had referred to his headline performance at Ultra as “underwhelming” in a message. In his clapback, Harris did not hold back, enumerating several of his biggest commercial successes over the previous ten years.
The multi-platinum performer’s counterattack draws attention to the differences between the sound favored by ardent followers of electronic dance music and the mainstream pop/dance classics for which he has become a household name.
Harris, one of the largest performers to play the main stage at Ultra’s annual event, seemed to have given more weight to his massively popular radio-friendly hits than to underground house and techno music. Some ardent festival goers believed Harris’ set list leaned too much to casual pop fans, despite the fact that sizable crowds sang along to hits like “How Deep Is Your Love” and “This Is What You Came For.”
Harris appears uninterested in straying from his tried-and-true formula of huge crossover songs when performing at festivals, based on the social media interaction. Millions of people have listened to his dozens of tracks, which speaks for itself. Harris claims that, whether or not he sticks to a more commercial sound, the audience seemed to like his Ultra Fest performance.
