But according to a recent, depressing news update, James Kottak, the drummer for Kingdom Come and the Ex-Scorpions, passed away tragically at the age of 61.Although more information regarding the precise circumstances of her father’s passing was not immediately available, Kottak’s daughter, Tobi, informed the media that her father passed away in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday morning. Rumors of the musician’s passing were initially reported by media outlet Metal Sludge. His precise cause of death is still a mystery.With the hard rock German band Scorpions, James is most renowned for having joined the group in 1996 and rising to the position of longest-serving member until his firing in 2016 due to drinking. Throughout the years, he has talked about his struggle with alcohol. As of October 2022, he said he was still working on quitting alcohol and that it would take time. His prior fame stemmed from his time as the founding drummer of Kingdom Come, a band that achieved major success in the 1980s with music reminiscent of Led Zeppelin.
Apart from that, he toured with numerous other bands, including Buster Brown, Montrose, KrunK, and Wild Horses. He had a contentious custody dispute over their son Matthew with Tommy Lee’s sister Athena after his illustrious 1996–2010 marriage.
