At only 23, Claudette delivers deeply emotional lyrics over the infectious rhythm, singing, “I had doubts, you didn’t, my concerns were there from the start,” and further clarifies on the chorus, “I couldn’t sign up for two years and a house on the hill, feeling the pressure while chasing my recording deal.” The video creatively mirrors the inner turmoil, portraying a shift from one familiar home scene to another, tinged with elements of unrest.

Reflecting on the genesis of “Two Years,” Claudette shares, “Around the time I penned ‘Gone Without A Trace,’ I was also wrestling with ‘Two Years.’ The struggle was how to prioritize my needs without feeling like an inconsiderate jerk.”

Claudette goes on to express that this process marked a turning point in their self-understanding and communication skills. “The gap between the initial inspiration and the final version allowed me to process the emotions I captured in the original demo. With Gabe and JAHS’ guidance, I was able to fine-tune these sentiments from a place of enlightenment,” they reveal.

Claudette, who has gained fame through hits like the electrifying “Motor in the Sand” and the classic R&B-inspired “Mess Around,” released their debut EP, The Year of February, in 2022. The EP shined with standout tracks like the crowd-pleasing “Creaming Soda” and the introspective “Hologram,” where Claudette contemplates their worthiness of stardom. The EP also grapples with romantic entanglements on memorable tracks like “Gone Without a Trace” and “Goodbye.”

Forest Claudette’s unique sound has its roots in Victoria, Australia’s Dandenong Ranges, though they also spent significant time in the US during their development as an artist. Inspired by Frank Ocean and Moses Sumney, Claudette started crafting their music in an immersive high school program and penned their first song at 16. Australia’s leading national radio station, triple j, soon recognized their talent, opening doors for collaborations with other artists and songwriters.

With the unveiling of Everything Was Green, Claudette introduces a fresh hue to their kaleidoscopic musical canvas. Prepare for an immersive musical journey that you won’t want to miss.
