Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy Nominated In Same Categories For UK MOBO Awards

The United Kingdom MOBO Award, an annual celebration of musical excellence, has announced the list of nominees for its 26th edition. This prestigious event will occur on February 7, 2024, at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, UK. This year’s nominees include eight outstanding Nigerian artists, prominent among them being Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. The MOBO Awards are recognized as one of the most significant platforms for acknowledging and celebrating black music and culture worldwide. Hundreds of musicians worldwide will come together to attend this event, making it a truly global affair. The announcement of the nominees on December 14, 2023, has generated a lot of excitement among music enthusiasts worldwide, eagerly anticipating the final results of the awards ceremony, as these nominated Nigerian Afrobeat stars are powerhouse superstars.

The Grammy winner Ayodeji Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, is a front-runner for Best African Music Artist. Not to mention other exceptional Nigerian performers like Davido, Rema, Burna Boy, Asake, and Adekunle Gold have also received nominations in the same category. It is a tough call, as all acts have had a splendid 2023 on the charts and tour venues. Not to mention, the only other Nigerian artist nominated in the best gospel act category is Samuel Onwubiko, better known by his stage name Limoblaze, who has made Nigerians proud. In an effort to honour more worthy musicians, the MOBO Awards have added new categories, including the MOBO Pioneer Award, the MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Paving the Way Award (MOBO Impact).
