Burna Boy Fails To Win In All 7 Nominated Categories At The 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards

The 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which took place at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center on October 3 and were broadcast on October 10, saw Nigerian singer Burna Boy lose all seven of his nominations. Burna Boy received nominations for Best Collaboration, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Live Performer, Best Hustler, Best Song, Best Lyricist, and Hip Hop Artist of the Year.

He was nominated for all of the awards, but Kendrick Lamar, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage won them all instead. Hosted by Fat Joe, the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards featured performances from Sexyy Red, GloRilla, City Girls, DaBaby, and other artists.

With four prizes, including Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Kendrick Lamar was the main winner of the evening. Many people are surprised by Burna Boy’s defeat at the BET Hip-Hop Awards because he is one of the most well-known and prosperous African artists in the world. He has received many honors, including a Grammy Award in 2021 for Best Global Music Album.

But it’s not the first time a well-known artist has failed to receive any nominations at a significant ceremony. In fact, one of the most well-known musicians in the world, Jay-Z, once failed to win any of the nine Grammy nominations he received.

Despite losing at the Grammys, Jay-Z is still regarded as one of the all-time great rappers. In the same manner, the Ls don’t take anything away from Burna.
